Things I like to do when it’s pouring

This is for you ‘T’…

I am not a big rain-person. I am more of a Delhi winter-person. But now that I think of it I have many memories and certain desires relating to this wet wet wet season.

First memories…I love the look on trees after a shower. Refreshed, dancing and swaying with the breeze. I love listening to music… I don’t need rain to make me do that… but I love the romance of it all. I like singing to myself when no one’s listening. That’s when I am able to do it actually. I love a cup of tea on the balcony. Another thing I don’t need rain for. I love a rick-ride when its drizzling…I quite like just being relaxed and gathering the sights and sounds. Oh ya another memory when I was about 15 or 16 every time it rained boys from my colony used to play football. That abandon, that fun and that exuberance I have only witnessed, never really felt. But it felt nice to have witnessed it. And something tells me that without the cats & dogs downpour the sport isn’t complete in some sense.

Now the desires… actually desire (the singular) I want to get soaking wet under a spell. Ya I’ve never done that. Quite simple. Nothing big. Told you I am not a rain-person!!!

Enjoying rains can be much fun. though even I dont like rain...sometimes it is a pleasant welcome. I remember standing in the balcony of my 7th Floor house in Delhi and looking at the eucalyptus trees as it rained heavily...and the cool breeze that came with it was heavenly. And sometimes just gathering the courage to go out and get soaked...it was a feeling of freedom that I may never be able to put in words....but other times...I only ran out to the balcony to save the drying clothes from getting soaked!
